Fonadhoo is the capital of the atoll. The residents of Fonadhoo include the relocated population of Gaadhoo, who were brought to the island in 2016. Despite this, the community is very tight knit and the people are extremely hospitable,

Fonadhoo is connected to Gan, Kahdhoo and Maandhoo by a link road. There is one historical site in Fonadhoo and it might be the one historical site with the most information on it.

Fonadhoo’s old Friday mosque is also around 300 years old, having being built by Dhevvadhu Rasgefaanu. However, it has undergone extensive renovation over the years and retains few of the original features.

The mosque is also built with hard coral stone similar to the Isdhoo Old Mosque, with a dry interlocking system. It is not currently in use and there is a new friday mosque right infront of this one.

The mosque has the grave of a famous Maldivian scholar Al Fageeh Mohamed Siraajuddeen and his wife Amina Kanbaafaanu. Mohamed Siraajuddeen was a scholar of islam, Dhivehi literature and grammar, both Dhivehi and Arabic, and he was also advisor to Sultan Mohamed Mueenudheenul Adil Radhun.
